The highest mountain in Poland

Mount Rysy @ 2,499 m in the Tatra Mountains – the highest peak in Poland 🇵🇱

There are two hiking trails leading to the summit – one from the Polish side or the other one to Rysy from the Slovak side. The routes differ, you should analyse both of them, take into account your possibilities, the one from the Slovak side is considered to be an easier option. You might be surprised but Rysy mountain massive actually has three summits: the north-western located on the Polish side of Tatra Mountains – 2,499 m, and two on the Slovak side of the mountain – the middle one at 2,503 m and the south-eastern at 2,473 m.

You can do it from two sides:

1. Trail from Palenica Białczańska through Morskie Oko and Bula pod Rysami

2. Following the trail from Slovakia from Štrbské Pleso

I haven’t done the route from the Slovak side of the mountain, we weren’t staying in Zakopane, or Morskie Oko – but if you are lucky enough to book the place in Morskie Oko refuge, do it! As it is an amazing place to stay. I spent a few days there in January 2020 when I attended the winter mountaineering course with Portal Tatrzanski. We were staying in the 6 bunk bed room with a window facing the lake and mountains. Incredible! Imagine waking up to this view!

And it was much cheaper for me to do it in Poland than in Scotland. And I really enjoyed my time in Tatra Mountains. I would love to do it again. They offer different levels and experiences so I might do it in the future.
